Initially, We are in Trouble

One of the most frustrating aspects of life today is the ever increasing use of initials. Every where we look we are faced with initials. If you are centered in some sort of world, you may be able to recognize some of the initials. For instance, sports people know what the NBA stands for. Lawyers recognize the ABA. Computer fans know that COBOL, BASIC and DOS are actually initials for computer languages. Major companies have bought copyrights to sets of initials... IBM, NASDAC & ETC.

Even nations and continents are resorting to initials because of airlines and the internet. The problem is that we the public are getting so used to companies and countries adopting initials and absorbing initials that we pay little attention to what is going on in our world.

Yesterday the U.S.S.R. became a JR partner of N.A.T.O. Big deal you say? It is a big deal!.... a real big deal! This means that Russia has bought into the European world. N.A.T.O. was basically formed to defend Europe from Russia. It seems to me that if Russia was no longer a threat to Europe, that N.A.T.O. should have been disbanded. They hint that maybe China could be the common enemy of N.A.T.O. but I doubt that communist China would ever be an enemy of Communist Russia.

I think the common enemy of the future N.A.T.O. is another set of Initials.... the USA. And that is probably because we choose to stick with Israel.
Well, the continual use of initials will increase the amount of confusion in the world. Its like people's names. We have gotton so many of them that we have resorted to identifying them by numbers.

I wonder when they will identify super powers by a number?
