The Power of Faith

"Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. Romans 10:17
How can the majestic God and creator of the universe truly relate with and trust in His creation, especially a creation who has failed every avenue of communion. The medium of faith is the only way to please God. So, what is faith?
In just about every place in the Bible that we find any thing of Abraham's relation to God, we find the phrase, "Abraham believed God" or words to that effect. Doctrinally the New Testament tells us that God counted that to him "righteousness."
The foundation of the Christian faith is faith. Anyone who claims to be a Christian has some degree of faith that when they die, they will go to Heaven. It may not be much more than that and many are not aware of the necessity of a heart belief and the new birth. The devil believes in Jesus, but will not inhabit heaven. God's eternal life is given to anyone who believes in their heart the Lord Jesus, and confesses with their mouth the Lord Jesus.
Others will not be allowed in, even though they may have cast out devils in the name of Jesus.
It is so simple and yet so evident.  God has all that can be imagined in a future for those who simply but honestly believe Him.
I must make a very important point here.  Three verses in the New Testament speak of "obeying" the Gospel.  This is enough to let us know as men, that we are not free to design our own gospel and that there is a specific Gospel.
Now lets look at this.  Do we have anything tangible with which we can prove there is a God and His Bible gives us the real eternity? We don't! All we have is a book.  We believe it but we can't make anyone else believe it, not even our own kids!
We believe God in spite of the arguments of the flesh, the world and the devil. We believe God in spite of circumstances, developments and the unforeseen tomorrows. Most of us have long ago learned that God blesses and rewards faith. The faith that we have may originate in our heart, but God Himself enhances it so that it stands in spite of all opposition.
We have examples in the Bible of people who acted upon their faith or held true to their faith. Those examples entail everything that we might face as tests to our faith.  Often I find myself praying that prayer of the father in Mark, "Lord, I believe, help thou mine unbelief."
God in His infinite wisdom has arranged eternity that can only be accessed by those of us who truly believe Him in our hearts. There is no set of accomplishments that we must make, there are no goals that we are required to reach, there are no sacrifices that we are required to make. Just believe Him. It doesn't rely on a belief
in Him. It insists that we just believe Him.
There are many who say they believe in God, but when asked to describe Him, usually some fairy tale or mythological god is described. Rarely is the scripture even used. It is obvious they do not know the God of the Bible. Their belief in God usually falls or fails as one of life's tests appear, or when it is not convenient to believe in God. Certainly the world's offerings diminish that belief.
Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord.  This verse in Romans 10 is usually used to be the final step in the Romans Road to Salvation and it works. A closer study of calling upon the name of the Lord reveals that only those who believe in their heart have a regular practice of calling on the name of the Lord. He is sought after in any number of life's decisions, His presence is desired for every moment. We depend upon Him for our strength, wisdom and protection. We take joy in His love for us.
