Having Done All, To Stand

I think that the most disheartening and discouraging thing that I know of is the news or information about a fellow believer who has thrown in the towel and quit or has changed his or her position of faith.  Judas is the kingpin of such behaviour. He proved that it is possible for a person to seem to be one of us yet harbor a potential of devastating a wonderful fellowship. Some of the Apostle Paul's verses suddenly drag us from the sublime to reality when he spoke of those who had abandoned him, turned against him or even turned to Satan.  All this tells us that humans are not explicitly dependable including ourselves.
The thrust of this article is to encourage and help us to remain faithful and useable to our Lord and Saviour. Paul gives us the way in Ephesians chapter 6. The armour of God is a necessity in warding off and defeating the fiery darts of the wicked. That same passage exhorts us to stand as noted in the title of this article.
The indwelling Spirit of God is the primary source of strength. A person is not even a child of God without the indwelling Spirit Romans 8:9. Allegiance to the Word of God is the next source of strength. The Bible is the only viable communication from the true and living God to his creation. We do not have the freedom to take it or leave it without dire consequences.  Contrary to popular belief, the Bible is not just a collection of proverbs and beautiful sayings. It is the instruction book for life and eternity. There is no aspect of our existence that is not covered sufficiently in the Bible. Your ability to stand depends upon your loyalty and reliance upon the Word of God.
The Word of God expresses definite doctrines to which believers must adhere in order to be correct. Your ability to stand depends upon the doctrines you hold as truth.
The Word of God details things to do and things not to do. Now, don't go into some tantrum of law and grace!!!! "Thou shalt not kill" is still a law regardless of who you are. Your ability to stand depends upon your obedience to do or not do according to the Word of God.
Did you ever ask the question, "Why did Jesus institute His Church?" There is a combination of answers, consolidated into two primary reasons. To carry His Gospel and for several to function as one. What ultimate better way to fulfill the second commandment, "Love your neighbor as yourself." John told us that we are not of God if we do not love each other.
If you find yourself standing alone, alone, You might reconsider your stand. Many Christians feel they have to stand alone. The sad thing about that is that Christ wouldn't even stand with them.   Your ability to stand depends upon whether or not you are standing for Christ. Your ability to stand depends upon your ability to stand with others who hold the same stand in Christ.
Now, lets talk about the armor. Your ability to stand depends upon whether or not your armor is intact.
Truth is the source of strength and stability. Nothing exceeds truth.
Righteousness, (being right with God.) is the protection of our vitals.
The Gospel of peace is the motivation of our position. Our feet planted in the Gospel.
Faith is the instrument with which we ward off the fiery darts of the wicked.
The helmet of Salvation is necessary to protect our eternal existence and abiding ability to stand faithful.
The Word of God is the sword of the Spirit. It is not just having and holding the Word in our hearts, but also the ability to wield that sword that enables us to stand strong for the cause of Christ.
