Do You Have Your Sword?

What better way could a Holy God communicate with sinful mankind than through a book, especially since the only way that God could communicate with man, was through faith. "Without faith it is impossible to please Him." Heb. 11:6

God used around 40 men who were inspired to write His word into the book we call the Bible.  The Bible opens by giving us the only true and believable story how we and everything got here. Evolution, the strongest opponent to the Bible is not at all believable in light of current science and facts. DNA study totally disproves evolution.

The Bible goes on to show that God chose a particular individual to begin a nation of people. That nation of people would be the human source of the Lamb of God. Most of the Old Testament was devoted to the Jews and what God did through them to bring forth Jesus the saviour of all who believe.

The story of Jesus is found in 4 books of the Bible. In those 4 books we find out how God sent His only begotten son to seek and to save that which was lost.  We know by now that we all are sinners and come short of the glory of God.  Jesus founded His church in Matthew. That true church is built upon Himself and no one else.  After Jesus died on the cross for our sin, was buried he rose again on the third day to show that eternal life is in Him.  He then commissions his disciples as well as you and I to go forth to the uttermost part of the earth with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Now the following is very important, listen closely. Jesus told us in John 3 that in order to enter Heaven one must be born again.  He was referring to a regeneration of dead souls. We as natural humans are lost in our sin, but we are also dead to God. The judgment of God upon Adam and Eve when they sinned was death. Not physical death, but spiritual death. They were separated from God and caused every person to be thusly separated.  Jesus is the mediator to bring us back to God by restoring that life into anyone who will put their faith and trust in Him.

In Romans 10 we find that we have to believe in our heart concerning Jesus, confessing Jesus as Lord and calling upon the name of the Lord.  That same passage states that we cannot believe unless we have heard the Word of God preached. There has to be preachers. (anyone who uses the Bible to preach Jesus.)

The point of this article is to impress upon the reader the importance that the Word of God plays in the conversion of a soul. Listen to Hebrews 4:12; "
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." This verse alone tells us that it is the Word of God that is able to work its way to the soul of men. This is the reason we are encouraged to memorize scripture, this is the reason we are encouraged to carry a New Testament in our pocket or purse. It is because it is the Word of God that has the power to change a lost soul into eternal life.

When we waken to this fact, we know why so many churches are filled with good 'christians' who are actually on their way to Hell.  Have you ever asked yourself the question why many people join a church are active and faithful to its functions, yet inwardly they are not committed to Christ. It is like they have a religion painted on the outside, but within are full of wickedness and sin?  I think a strong argument would be that the reason is that they have not received a good dose of the Word of God. They are depending upon their baptism or their enthusiasm for their church and its various functions and activities. They have not heard the word of God.
